Speaking in a meeting with a number Sunni scholars of the country, the president highlighted the status of Sunni Muslims and scholars in Iran’s history.
He also hailed the good bonds between Shias and Sunnis in the country, saying they have lived together with a spirit of brotherhood.
Raeisi also referred to the rise of Takfiri groups in the region and said there should be vigilance to prevent these currents from infiltrating into the country.
He added that “British Shias and American Sunnis” are two sides of the same coin, stressing that they are both against unity in the Muslim world.
Raeisi underlined that for Iran, pushing for Islamic unity is a strategy not a tactic.
Some of the Sunni scholars and clerics also expressed their views at the meeting with the president.
